Engineering Excellence Since 2009

Building trust through technical precision and transparent communication with studios across the UK.

From Recording Sessions to Repair Benches

runtime-grid began when founder Marcus Webb noticed a recurring problem during his years as a studio engineer: equipment failures often meant waiting weeks for repairs from manufacturers, or trusting gear to generalist electronics shops unfamiliar with audio specifications.

The business started in a converted garage, servicing monitors and outboard gear for studios Marcus had worked with. Word spread through the tight-knit professional audio community. Fifteen years later, our workshop processes over two thousand units annually, but the founding principle remains unchanged.

Every technician on our team comes from professional audio backgrounds. We understand the difference between equipment that technically functions and equipment that performs to the standard your work demands.

Our Technical Philosophy

Three principles guide every repair decision we make.

Diagnose Before Deciding

Symptoms rarely tell the full story. Before recommending any repair, we trace faults to their root cause. This approach prevents unnecessary replacements and identifies issues that would resurface later.

Preserve Original Character

Vintage equipment often sounds distinctive because of specific component choices. When servicing classic gear, we source period-correct parts or modern equivalents that maintain the original sonic signature.

Measure Everything

Subjective impressions matter, but measurements prove performance. Every unit leaving our workshop has documented specifications showing compliance with manufacturer standards or agreed performance targets.

The Team

Engineers who understand both circuits and creative workflows.

Marcus Webb

Founder & Lead Engineer

Twenty-three years in professional audio, including a decade as chief engineer at major London recording studios. Specialises in vintage console restoration and monitor system design.

Elena Kowalski

Senior Calibration Technician

Background in broadcast engineering with the BBC. Brings precision measurement expertise and maintains our calibration reference standards. Handles all compliance-critical work.

Daniel Okafor

Digital Systems Specialist

Firmware development background combined with live sound experience. Handles digital console repairs, interface troubleshooting, and network audio system diagnostics.

Workshop Facilities

Our Birmingham workshop combines traditional bench repair capabilities with modern measurement equipment. Climate-controlled storage protects equipment awaiting service, while our anechoic measurement room enables accurate acoustic testing.

  • Audio Precision APx555 measurement system
  • Anechoic chamber for speaker measurement
  • Component-level rework station with microscope
  • Comprehensive vintage component inventory
